Quick, Who Invented the Remote Control?

If you've been following the news today, you'll have seen the headlines that James "Scotty" Doohan of Star Trek fame and Gerry Thomas, inventor of the TV Dinner both passed away today.

Trying to complete the triad, I'm searching for the missing connection. The remote control connection is the best I could come up with on short notice. I'd do better, but I "need more power."
