Sticks and Stones

I've been avoiding this whole Cindy Sheehan thing, but I just ain't gonna do it no more.

This is such the biggest non-story story clogging up the public's valuable airwaves.

Don't get me wrong. I'm all for social protest to bring about awareness. When it comes to the First Amendment, I'm an absolutist. But this isn't a protest; it's a bad SNL sketch just begging for Matt Foley to crash it.

Ms. Sheehan is the worst spokesman in the world for this cause. I feel for her loss. War sucks. So is the alternative. But Sheehan is more Abbie Hoffman that Tom Hayden.

So, I checked out her blog this afternoon. If her credibility, which was shaky enough to begin with, rests with her supporters (many of whom have left uplifting and inspirational comments) then she should have closed shop a long time ago.

Here's a smidge of what her supporters think about the people who don't agree with her decision to camp out on the side of the road because she didn't have the stones to tell the president what she thought in the first place when they met in face to face.

"Blind, vile, twisters of reality";

"chicken**** hawks with no credibility, integrity or morality";

"small minded ***holes that can't help but illustrate their lack of class and intelligence."

So much for "civil" protest.

In more important news, Courtney Love shocked the world and admitted to continued substance abuse issues while on probation.

"I think that you need to hit rock bottom before you make a decision about what you're going to do in the future," Superior Court Judge Rand Rubin told the sobbing Love.

You mean she still has deeper to go? That's a wreck I hope to avoid.
