In describing his own atrocious putting at The Masters, Eldrick said that "once [he] got on the greens, [he] was a spaz."

While common and generally non-offensive in the United States, the term, if used inaccurately and out of context, is apparently derogatory and offensive in the UK. And while they did not necessarily demand an apology, the UK-based Spastics Society (yeah, I noticed the irony, too) expressed dismay that Woods would use a term that may offend his overseas fans.

No wonder we revolted.

We have our language; you got yours. Get over it.

Over here, we call getting pissed and lighting up a fag a hate crime; over there, it's just a drunk with a cigarette.
