A few weeks ago, I took Friday off. It was the first non-holiday vacation day since early January and I needed it.
After running all the personal errands, I sat on the couch and started to watch mindless tv. I caught a couple of episodes of Magnum, P.I.. I had forgotten how cool that show is.
Since then, lines from that series have been popping into my head for me to incorporate into my daily life. Yes, it is nice not having to ever come up with anything original to say.
The other day in mock-anger, I slammed the bedroom door and a hex key fell off the door frame. We've never locked the bedroom door so I gave it a shot so see if the key worked. After about a minute, the prospect of having to sleep in the guest room entered my mind and that made me more anxious, not to mention my wife laughing at me and telling me what an idiot I am for locking the door just because.
Anyway, I started telling myself outloud, "Don't look at the dogs, work the lock. Don't look at the dogs. You looked at the dogs!" She didn't catch the reference.
Then today, I started to tell a friend of mine at work a story where the conclusion was obvious. I started the story off with "I know what you're thinking".
All I need now is a pair of short shorts and a Tiger's cap. Oh, and the car and a moustache.
