The computer gods win tonight. I was mere sentences away from finishing a brilliant post that would have had you laughing, crying, jumping on the couch like Tom Cruise, and high-fiving random strangers on the street.
I tried to re-create the post, but it felt contrived. So tonight, you get CNN Headline News instead of All Things Considered:
- I forget birthdays, even those who have been in my life since high school and college. Sometimes even family members. Heck, I lived 14 months of my life thinking I was 31.
-My in-laws live for celebrating birthdays. For them, the best part is passing around the well-chosen birthday card. I've learned how to chuckle while at these family gatherings. But I'm still not comfortable.
-Yesterday was Brian's 34th birthday; I thought it was tomorrow. I've known him since I was 15.
-I went to his house today. We communicate while playing some sort of sport. Now, it's usually golf. (Yes, it is too a sport).
-Amy suggested we should go to the driving range so we did for several hours.
-Before I left Brian's house, we watched Texas v. Michigan in this year's Rose Bowl. Texas still won.
Believe me, it was funny, and gut-wrenching, and poignant, and acute.
Does this even deserve a low-five? Don't feel bad; I didn't think so, either.
