A Full Weekend, And A Full Belly

This weekend has been full of activity and it's not even over yet. I'm willing to close the blinds, turn off the ringers, and become one with the couch.

The weather here has been absolutely gorgeous the past few days. On Thursday and Friday, I was able to wear long sleeved shirts for the first time and it felt great.

On our way to dinner, Melissa commented that she wanted to buy the new Shakira cd but was hesitant to do so because it's completely in Spanish. We both enjoy the music so I was sold. So, after dinner we made side-trip to Target before we went home. Melissa quickly found the Shakira cd plus a cd for her.

I should perhaps mention that we can never buy just one item. We can usually find one cd, one movie, or one of whatever that we can agree upon. However, Melissa will find something else for her that simply does not interest me, like, say, Gretchen Wilson. And since she got a cd for herself, I simply had to get something for myself as well. That's just fair, right?

So, I started to search amongst the $10 cds for a hidden jewel.

I had settled on an Etta James cd when I found the greatest hits of perhaps the finest palindromic band to ever have come out of Sweden.

And let me tell you this - there's nothing more life-affirming than to pulling up next to a car of teenagers with their hip hop music blaring and going decibel-for-decibel with Take A Chance on Me.

Then to wrap up Saturday, it was a day consuming my own weight in queso and sausage and cookies and brisquet. The game was nice, yeah, but so was the food.

It's now Sunday evening and I've just had the chance to sit down for a while. Well, just back from a birthday party for Melissa's cousins. The day was spent cleaning the house and visiting with family.

When you have the in-laws I do, there's always a celebration going on. It's not very difficult to be eating cake every single weekend.

So, to sum up the past few days: food and football.
