I usually don't root for the hometown team. There have been two exceptions in my life. When I was an adolescent, I rooted for the CSU Rams. Since my dad worked for the college, he would take us to their basketball games. Funny that I can remember them even though I was only four or five years old.
The second, of course, is the Horns.
Even though I live in Dallas, I don't root for Dallas-area teams. The Cowboys? I hope they lose every game for the next fifty years. The Rangers? I don't root against them per se, but c'mon, get some pitching and maybe we'll talk. The Mavs? Same comparable situation. Get some headtoppers (or as Ethan-Mo says, some Money Men), and maybe we'll talk.
Case in point. Last night, the Mavs are playing the Suns. Dallas is down one point with ten seconds left in the game. What does Dirk do? He passes.
Ten seconds left, down by one. In those situations, do you think Jordan, Magic, or Bird even knew how to spell "pass", much less thought it?
