This Will Bug Me All Day Long

I had my own West Wing moment this morning. In the pilot episode, we are introduced to Chief of Staff Leo McGarry as he speaks on the phone with the newspaper telling of a typo in that morning's crossword puzzle.

This morning, the clue "Scandinavian capital" (4 letters) came up. Easy, right? But the Across clues that intersect that clue were (in order) "Plays the Links", "Baseballer Moises", "Quarantined", and "Sodom fleer". I dutifully wrote in "Golfs", "Alou", "Isolated", and "Lot". Looking back, the 4-letter clue in question spelled "Olso".

There was another clue: "Norwegian inlet". I originally wrote "fjord" because that's the only spelling I've ever come across. Apparently, "fiord" is an equally correct spelling.

But, Olso?

That's the highlight of my day.
