If I Could Fast-Forward Time...

- I have an annoying habit (to everybody who is not me, that is) whenever I get a new cd. I tend to focus on one song that I really like and listen to that one song over and over again.

Currently, that song is Miranda Lambert's Dry Town. As good as Crazy Ex-Girlfriend is, this song is better because it is Western swing.

- Of all the so-called "Constitutional crises" that have occurred during my lifetime (and I can only name three), I think the current collision involving the Vice President's office and Congress is the only one with legs.

I'm of the opinion that these once-a-decade problems arise from the Congress' myopia and inaction. This one involves a legislative officer with executive duties. I find the arguments utterly fascinating because most are matters involving the separation of powers. This may be the first one I've heard of involving the co-mingling of powers.

If the dispute ever gets as far as the Supreme Court, it could be one of the extremely rare times when the Court would really be able to dive into the shadows of the Constitution and shed some light.

- Generally, I try to live life day-to-day and week-to-week. That being said, my impatience with the passing of time has increased the past couple of months.

Fortunately, I'll be taking a humongous break in a couple of weeks. That'll help kill some time.

But after that, time will drag by until the release of Rilo Kiley's album in late August. Ever since late April when I first read the release date, I've been looking for as much information as possible.

At first, it was just the name of the album- Under the Blacklight. Then, I waited a couple of weeks for track listings. Finally, I've been rewarded with a song and video.

It's an entirely different sound. When I played it for Melissa and told her it's much darker than their previous music, she walked away actually saying it was pretty good. This is a vast improvement. For the past several years, she's referred to my favorite band as Rilo Crappy. [To be consistent, she also refers to Neko Case as Neko Crappy.]

I've been waiting a long time for this album; I guess I can hurry up and wait a bit longer.
