Permission Was Granted

So, several weeks ago, I was watching the Western Conference Finals between the Suns and the Mavs. Raja Bell, who plays for the Suns, was injured in a previous game and was listed as day-to-day.

Game 6, I think, I was watching the pre-game and Raja was warming up. It wasn't a Willis Reed story or anything, but I was excited nonetheless. I exclaimed my joy outloud to Melissa, "Cool, Raja is playing tonight."

We watched several more minutes of pre-game. As the players were announced, Raja came out to mid-court as his name was flashed on the screen.

"Oh", Melissa said in surprise, "his name really is Raja."

I asked her what she thought it was, as I had only said his name several times that night.

She thought his name was Roger, but I was pronouncing it with an overdose of ethnicity.
